SYNOPSIS
A young film director, returns to her family village after a terrorist alert was triggered. As she films her family members in their power dynamics, she comes to understand that they are more connected to this event than she originally thought. Through the making of a short documentary, she becomes closer to her dad Patrick, 62, and her cousin Faustine, 17, who share the same dream: leaving the village.

BIOGRAPHY
DIRECTOR - MORGANE DZIURLA-PETIT
Morgane Dziurla-Petit (1996, France) is a filmmaker based in Sweden. She graduated in Cinema at the New Sorbonne University in Paris and Film Production in Cannes. She gained professional experience working at the Cannes Film Festival and Roy Andersson Filmproduktion in Sweden, where she moved in 2017. Her films are on the borderline between documentary and fiction. Her first short film The Day (2018) was selected by the 41st Göteborg International Film Festival. Excess Will Save Us (2019) was awarded Best Short Film at Tempo Documentary Film Festival (Sweden) and Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival (France). Grab Them (2020) was nominated for Best Swedish short at Göteborg Film Festival 2020. Excess Will Save Us (2022) marks her feature film debut.
